Welcome to A Mending Space

A community studio to support creative living, fiber arts, & slow fashion led by Katrina Rodabaugh.

About This Space

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here. A Mending Space is a virtual studio. It’s a community space to support creative living, fiber arts, slow fashion, and sustainable living. It's a place where we share our creative hopes, dreams, challenges, and solutions. It's a place where we feel more supported in aligning our habits with our values. It’s a membership space dedicated to creative dreams, projects, and people. The studio opens to new members for the fall session from September 15-18, 2022. On Monday, September 16, we begin our next session with a five-day Make-a-Long open to all members.

A Mending Space is a monthly membership site open to anyone who wants to join. Each week, I share an exclusive written article with links and resources to support creativity; a thoughtful prompt to bring insights to your creative habits; and an open studio day for participants to share their own work, questions, and inspiration. Monthly, I host a live, exclusive, artist interview for members only. In addition, we’ve just launched a monthly book club. There are also opportunities for deeper engagement through small groups and one-on-one consultations.

I'm Katrina Rodabaugh and I'm your host. I've been working in the arts for two decades but my passion is fostering connection between people, creativity, and the planet. I've written three craft books, taught thousands of students in creative workshops, and designed dozens of thoughtful products to support folks in slow fashion, mending, and natural dyes. I've organized exhibitions, hosted retreats, and written dozens of articles. But mostly, I love to bring inspiring people together, especially when supporting creativity and practices to best protect our dear planet and its people.

In this community we share work in mending textiles, using natural (plant) dyes, hand-stitching, and styling a slow fashion wardrobe. But we go so much deeper than our clothes. We examine our values, priorities, and mindsets. We share inspiration, artists, authors, and other folks who keep our optimism geared towards the future we know we can create. This space doesn't require any experience with sewing, stitching, or making anything other than a friend or two. This is a new space and it will evolve slowly. But I'm so glad you'll join me. Let's mend, together.
